Trail Rides

Trail Rides for Two (or more)

Every once in awhile it's nice to take a break and get out of the ring and see the world. It's a beautiful change of scenery and pace for the horse as well. I generally take out couples or friends to various parks and trails in the Tallahassee area. There are many unique and colorful places to see and explore. Trail rides generally last anywhere from and hour and a half to two hours depending on the weather, the bugs, and how everyone's bottoms are holding up.

Fees

Trail Rides cost $75 per rider plus the fuel to our destination (@ 75 cents per mile) and any park fees we must pay to ride. All the fees will be discussed and known ahead of time.

Age, Weight, and Experience Restrictions for Trail Riding

Age depends on health and dexterity a good rule of thumb for trail riding is 8 and up. The child needs to be able to follow instructions and control the horse by themselves. The weight limit for riding is 220lbs. A horse shouldn't carry more than 25% of their body weight. The average horse weighs about 1000lbs. So an individual who weighs 220lbs plus the weight of the saddle will meet or exceed that percentage. All trail riders are required to take at least one lesson to make sure that you can communicate with and control the horse effectively. At the end of the lesson it will be discussed as to whether it is safe for you to go out on the trail. Ultimately this is left up to the discretion of the instructor. If she feels that you are not ready it will be strongly recommended that you continue lessons until you can meet the requirements. All riders must know how to perform and emergency stop and dismount and be able to walk, trot, and stop their horses effectively by themselves before they are considered candidates for a trail ride. We do offer lead line trail rides on the property at the cost of the lesson for beginners or those who do not meet the requirements.

Booking and Cancellation Policies

Please call or email for times and availability.Trail rides are generally for two people, but I do have partners who I can schedule trail rides for more. Trail rides must be scheduled and paid for two weeks in advance. There are NO REFUNDs and rescheduling can be done at half the cost of the trail ride. Rescheduling a trail ride for two must be done at least one week in advance. Trail rides for more than two must be scheduled a month in advance. Rescheduling is not an option for a trail ride for more than two because it involves scheduling and meeting a third party with more horses. Every rider must have an Equistarre Liability Release Form and the Equistarre Information and Policies Form completed and signed (must be signed by a legal guardian if a minor) It is their responsibility to make sure they have this form. This form may be obtained by clicking the Equistarre Liability Release Form link above.
